On May 8th, 2017 Governor Nathan Deal Signed into law SB 206 The “Hearing Aid Coverage for Children Act”, known as "Jack's Law", on the steps of the Georgia Capital. This law requires, for the first time in Georgia history, that private insurers cover the cost of hearing aids for children in Georgia. This marks the biggest victory to date for deaf and hard of hearing children!
We are blessed to be working alongside LET GEORGIA HEAR to help Georgia's children.
Senator PK Martin graciously sponsored SB206. Senator Martin was & is an incredible advocate, securing over 20 senators to stand as co-sponsors!
We also worked with Representative Brad Raffensperger to introduce this legislation in the Georgia House of Representatives during the session. Representative Raffensperger laid the groundwork for this movement by first introducing the bill in the House. We are so grateful for his support and tremendous work in sponsoring HB228, as we all worked toward securing better support for Georgia's children.
