Updates from the So The World May Hear Gala.
The stars came out in support of hearing loss at the Starkey Hearing Foundation's 2015 So The World May Hear Awards Gala. Jack was a guest of the gala visionaries, Bill and Tani Austin, and he got to meet many of the stars in attendance.
Fundraising to support those without access to proper hearing care is critical.
In the United States, the cost of hearing care and hearing aids are rarely covered by medical insurance. As a result, many families simply can’t afford it. It is just plain wrong that massage, weight loss surgery, smoking cessation and braces are covered by most insurance plans, but hearing aids aren’t!
Outside of the developed world, there is very little hearing care available. In many parts of the world, people with hearing impairment have no access to education or employment. In fact, in some places in the world, hearing impairment is viewed as a curse on the family or the tribe, and people are feared and shunned by their own families and villages.
We believe that everyone on the planet has the right to communicate, and when a person’s hearing is impaired, so is their ability to communicate.
We are very blessed to be associated with the So The World May Hear Awards Gala, Bill and Tani Austin and The Starkey Hearing Foundation to achieve the 20/20 Hearing mission of giving the gift of hearing and ensuring the right to communicate.
